The Ethos Foundation has launched the non-profit association Ethos Académie. The association's aim is to promote a stable and prosperous socio-economic environment, in line with one of the Ethos Foundation's two purposes. Dick Marty, former Senator for the canton of Tessin, will chair the Ethos Académie board of trustees.

The aim of Ethos Académie is to promote a stable and prosperous socio-economic environment, in the interest of future generations and the benefit of civil society as a whole. Both private individuals and institutions can become members of Ethos Académie.

Dick Marty to chair Ethos Académie

Dick Marty, former Senator for the canton of Tessin, will chair the Ethos Académie board of trustees. He has this to say on the association's establishment: "Raising awareness of all stakeholders with regard to a sustainable economy is a crucial and urgent issue. All initiatives leading to sustainable development must be encouraged, in order to protect the interests of future generations."

Ethos opens to private individuals

Shared prosperity is contingent on a global economy rooted in the concept of sustainable development. To achieve this goal, private individuals must also become involved. Kaspar Müller, Ethos Foundation Chairman, says: "In founding Ethos Académie, Ethos wants to give private individuals the possibility to contribute to a healthy and sustainable economy."

A sustainable economy in the service of all participants

Members' subscriptions and donations will be used for projects raising the awareness of civil society on sustainability issues. The focus will be on organising public events, lectures and debates on topics in the field of corporate social responsibility. Studies will be carried out on subjects within the Ethos Foundation's area of expertise. Lastly, Ethos will open several of its activities such as proxy voting at shareholder meetings to private individuals.

The Ethos Foundation has contributed CHF 50,000 in seed money for the launch of Ethos Académie. In addition, Dominique Biedermann, Executive Director of the Ethos Foundation, will turn over to Ethos Académie the amount of CHF 50,000 that go along with the 2012 Landis & Gyr Foundation award he received for his personal pioneering role in the integration of corporate governance and sustainable development principles in asset management.
